About Laura
Hi, I’m Laura Boss—fantasy lover, late-blooming writer, and unapologetic romantasy addict.
I’m a 39-year-old first-time author from Waterloo, Canada, currently working on my debut novel—Tides of Corruption—Book 1 in a planned five-book epic romantasy series.

“But Laura, you’re almost 40 and just starting to write?”
Yep. It may have taken me a while to find my passion, but once I did, I dove in headfirst. The truth is, this story has been rattling around in my head for decades. The kind of tale that lives in your daydreams—where you fall asleep plotting scenes, hold silent conversations with characters, and stare out the window imagining whole worlds. I just never thought to write it down… until I fell victim to BookTok.
Like many millennials, I grew up devouring Harry Potter, Disney princess movies, and epic RPGs. Then life happened, reading slumped, and stories faded into the background. Until one day, a retelling of Beauty and the Beast reignited a spark—and suddenly I was devouring "ACOTAR", "Throne of Glass", "Fourth Wing", and more. That reawakened something I’d always loved: fantasy.
As a long-time gamer and Tolkien nerd, I’ve always been drawn to sprawling worlds, complex lore, and high-stakes quests. I adore Brandon Sanderson’s magic systems and the rich depth of Robert Jordan's "The Wheel of Time". But I kept searching for one thing I rarely found—romance. The kind that matters. The kind that’s central to the story without overshadowing it. And that’s when I knew: it was time to write my book.
So, I did. Over the past year-plus, I’ve spent nearly every day reading, writing, researching, and building a world that blends sweeping magic and political intrigue with slow-burn romance and character-driven heart. Now, I’m ready to share it.
